The series was produced by renowned stationery expert Dai Ishizu and color-supervised by professional color consultant Hanae Matsumoto. Using high-quality, safety-conscious ingredients, these inks are developed and manufactured entirely in Japan.

Ukiyo-e Ink Series Vol. 3: Utagawa Kuniyoshi

The third installment in the Ukiyo-e Ink collection is inspired by Utagawa Kuniyoshi, one of the most innovative and imaginative Ukiyo-e artists of the late Edo period.

This collection features eight colors inspired by Kuniyoshi's dramatic and unconventional masterpieces, including:

  • The gigantic skeleton from Takiyasha the Witch and the Skeleton Spectre (Sōma no Furudairi)
  • The humorous supernatural cat from The Fifty-three Stations of the Tōkaidō: Okabe – The Origin of the Cat Stone

Rather than focusing on traditional subjects such as beauties and kabuki actors, Kuniyoshi became famous for his bold compositions featuring yokai, ghosts, legendary creatures, and cats. These works were selected for their striking visual impact and imaginative storytelling.
